I'm always amazed by how far a sincere apology goes with my little ones. They are so understanding it's almost heartbreaking sometimes. And learning to apologize without saying "but" (thank you Brene Brown) has been such a life lesson. Happy Mother's Day xo
Hi. I just started reading your newsletter a few weeks ago. Thank you! I just made (this morning!) Alison Romans Blueberry Muffins and let me tell you they will not disappoint! My family and sons girldfriend all agree best BB muffin ever. So easy / fast and wow.
GAH, Ilyssa, first of all, thanks for reading! Every time someone comments it's a bit of a pinch-me-moment! :) And OK, this seals the deal, I MUST MAKE THESE MUFFINS! Meredith and I have been talking about them for a couple weeks now!
I need to try those black beens from Sohla's book. They sound delicious. I made her Brothy Same Day Slow Roast Whole Chicken last week. It was good, but I'd probably never make it again. I much prefer just a simple roasted chicken and frankly, I think it's easier. I also found myself with bananas going bad and made the banana bread again. I was just shy of the needed banana and replaced it with an equal amount of yogurt as I didn't have apple sauce or anything else. Although it's a fussy recipe, it's forgiving and was still amazing.
I felt similarly about the chicken — I’m just such a fan of a regular roast chicken that it didn’t feel worth it to me. Good idea to add yogurt to the bread! I bet that worked really well!
Yes!!! Meredith and I are trying to save our more in-depth comments for a round-up post, but like she said, totally felt the same way! There is just something so simple and pure and perfect about a roast chicken. That being said, I did see a recipe today in Jessica Battilana's cookbook Repertoire that looked fantastic (spatchcocked, butter, garlic!), and I don't know if I can resist trying another new recipe. And your banana bread sounds delish; I love how adaptable it is!

I know, right?! Sweet, sweet little loves. I've actually never read anything by Brene Brown, but I've heard such wonderful things. Adding to my list!
